On October 7th in Struga electoral assembly was held of the Youth Section at which new President and Vice President were elected. Three candidates ran for the presidential post, which presented in front of delegates their biography and work program. With secret ballot delegates elected Sasha Ivanov as the new President. Mr. Ivanov is also leader at his local union at the Health Fund, SADU affiliate. The new Vice President is Ana Petrova from the SSERI trade union.
The electoral assembly was held at the margins of the Seminar of the Youth Section (6-8 October) titled „Introduction to the Labor Law and Collective Agreements“. The goal was increasing knowledge of young trade unionists about main provisions of the Labor Law and collective agreements, their structure, applications, provisions pertaining to unions and their representatives, etc. All presentations stirred lively debate and many questions, and during the latest session participants simulated collective negotiations over an invented wage increase. This seminar was exceptionally interesting for young unionists and they all asked for more seminars on similar topics.  The Youth Section of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Macedonia on 12-15 May hosted a Regional seminar for trade unions from SEE on the topic of Involving Youth in TU Leadership Positions. This seminar was carried out in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. Participants in the seminar were young unionists from Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Macedonia. The goal of the seminar was exchange of experiences of young unionists from the perspective of their positions and activities.
The seminar provided the platform for discussing challenges related to youth in leadership positions in trade unions, lack of involvement of young workers in the union work and ways of their motivation, and even some cases of obstacles which young unionists come across when aspiring for higher position.
It was jointly concluded at the seminar that similar seminars should be further organized, and even participants proposed developing of a join project for bigger participation of youth in union work, as per the example of young trade unionists from EU member-states.

 In the course of October KSS is conducting the second cycle of educational seminars for 2010 in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, office in Skopje. From 8-10 October in Struga seminar was held for the Youth Section of KSS on Teamwork and Leadership. The goal of this seminar was introducing young trade unionists into the skills and techniques of leadership necessary for effective representation of members in the base and identifying their leadership potentials.
